Do I give homework?

Yes, as needed.

Working from a collaborative, client-centred approach, I empower my clients to become confident as the experts of their own lives. This might look like providing psychoeducational resources, or sharing worksheets with strategies based on our work together through email. Most often, I offer and encourage my clients to intentionally consider specific reflective questions based on our sessions.

Reflection questions are designed to encourage clients to think deeply and introspectively about their experiences, emotions, and behaviours. Through this process, clients can gain greater self-awareness, identify patterns and triggers that contribute to their distress, and develop new coping strategies.

Some benefits of reflection questions as homework include:

Developing Self-Awareness: Reflection questions can help clients develop greater self-awareness by encouraging them to reflect on their experiences and identify patterns in their behaviour. Through this process, clients can gain a deeper understanding of their emotions and behaviours, and develop new ways of coping with difficult situations.
Promoting Emotional Regulation: By identifying the emotions they are experiencing and the triggers that are contributing to those emotions, clients can develop new coping strategies to manage their emotions more effectively.
Improving Interpersonal Effectiveness: Through reflection, clients can identify areas where they may be struggling in their relationships and develop new strategies for communicating and resolving conflicts.
By focusing on intentional reflection outside of session, clients can continue to build upon the skills they learn in therapy and make lasting changes in their lives.
